What is your hometown? Cheyenne, Wyoming
What is one thing you like to do for fun?Travelling (although not this year, thanks 2020). I love to travel to new places, explore new environs, and be immersed in different cultures. I really enjoy when the places I travel include water in the landscape, whether creek, river, lake, reservoir, or ocean.
I have worked in the water industry since 2007 starting with my first job out of college in Washington, D.C. managing water projects for Coca-Cola and USAID. While I enjoyed that the work benefited people in developing countries, I wanted to get back to the West and work in a more technical field focused on sustainable water resource management. My courses, working for the Bureau of Reclamation on changing demands within the Colorado River Basin, and volunteering with Engineers Without Borders to build water projects in Nepal during grad school all sparked my interest in water resource engineering.
I wish I had known more about Colorado’s River Basins, details about the major water projects happening in the state, and Colorado Water Law.
A promising trend that I see occurring more and more are partnerships in water projects. With increasing demands and decreasing supplies, not only of water, but also other natural resources, projects that are developed through public-private, municipal-ag, and all other kinds of partnerships tend to have enhanced mutual benefits.
